What is Epic Games IP Protection? +
Epic Games IP Protection is the official platform for reporting intellectual property infringement involving Epic Games content. This covers copyright violations, trademark misuse, counterfeit products, unauthorized software distribution, domain impersonation, and other IP violations across all platforms and media worldwide.
What types of infringement can I report? +
You can report: Copyright infringement (unauthorized reproduction of game assets, code, artwork, videos, or music), Trademark violations (unauthorized use of Epic Games logos, names, or brand elements), Counterfeit products (fake merchandise or goods), Unauthorized software (pirated copies or unauthorized tools), Content misuse (unauthorized commercial use of Epic content), and Domain/impersonation (fraudulent websites or social media accounts).
What happens after I submit a report? +
After submission, your report is received by Epic Games' IP enforcement team. The team reviews the claim against applicable intellectual property law, verifies the details provided, and determines the appropriate enforcement action. This may include DMCA takedown notices, cease-and-desist letters, platform reports, or further legal proceedings as necessary.
What information do I need to submit a report? +
At minimum, you need: the URL of the infringing content, the type of infringement, which Epic Games IP is affected, a detailed description of the infringement, your contact information, and the legal declaration including an electronic signature. Providing additional evidence (screenshots, additional URLs) strengthens the report.
Is fan content or gameplay allowed? +
Yes. Gameplay videos, streaming, fan art, commentary, criticism, and educational content are generally permitted under Epic Games' Fan Content Policy and fair use principles. This reporting tool is specifically for unauthorized commercial use, reproduction, or distribution of Epic Games intellectual property. Do not use this form to report content that falls within normal fan and creator use.
Can content removal be appealed? +
Yes. If you believe your content was wrongly removed as a result of a claim filed through this platform, you may submit a DMCA counter-notification through the relevant hosting platform (e.g., YouTube, TikTok). You may also contact Epic Games directly. Counter-notifications must meet the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). See our DMCA Policy for full details.
What are the consequences of filing a false report? +
Filing a knowingly false or fraudulent claim is a serious legal matter. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Epic Games takes the integrity of IP claims seriously and may pursue legal action against fraudulent reporters.
